Mid-March Link Dump
Comics Grammar & Tradition- I once worked on a comic for a marketing campaign and foolishly assumed the illustrator would know these conventions as they seemed so intuitive to me.
- Specify your canonical
- A way to avoid duplicate content using a
linktag; also supported by Yahoo! and Microsoft. - Saturday Morning Watchmen
- It’s been linked from everywhere recently (often to the inferior YouTube version though) but deserves every bit of attention, fantastic stuff.
- Survey of Preferences of Screen Readers Users
- The clearest findings seem to be that headings and search are important, pop-up windows and Flash are a pain. Also some interesting preferences regarding image
altattributes.
The “I Can Read Movies” Series; Harry Potter Redesign; Video Game Classics- Alternative cover designs. Bonus design-related link: Tape Cassette Inserts (this one is amazing)
- How To: DIY $10 Macro Photo Studio
- I’ve had to resort to building things like this in the past to cobble together half-decent photos.
- Paper Toys!
- Kids love this stuff. So do bored adults with colour laser printers in their offices.
- Caravan
- A sanctuary in the woods.
- The On-Line Encyclopedia of Integer Sequences
- For all of your integer sequence needs.
- cufon
- Another way to embed fonts, using
canvasor VML rather than Flash. Bonus font-related link: Not a Font - The mystery of Ireland’s worst driver
- Oops.
