I Quit!
Back in 2000, I joined Big Picture Interactive and moved to Leamington Spa, partly to work on new kinds of projects for interesting brands, and partly to join a great bunch of people.
But for some time it’s been clear something has to give. As well as the job and my personal life, I’ve got an ever-growing list of ideas I really want to try out. Those ambitions can’t be fulfilled in my day job (I started this blog, for example, after eventually giving up on persuading my employers to do one), and there simply aren’t enough hours in the day to get much done outside of it. Yeah, I probably should be satisfied with being paid a decent wage to work regular hours with superb colleagues, but I need to try new things.
So just over a week ago I handed in my notice, and from next month I’ll be putting all of my time into Malevolent Design. I’ll be doing my usual varied mix of freelance work (consultancy, graphic design, XHTML/CSS, Flash, SEO) and getting my own projects/experiments going. It’s a little scary to be moving on after six years, but the timing feels right and I can’t wait to get started!
