Code snippets
Unless stated otherwise, any chunks of code/markup (XHTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, etc.) directly displayed on pages (i.e. as part of the visible page, not within the source code alone) can be freely modified and used within your projects. No guarantees are given or liability accepted, it’s up to you to use things appropriately and ensure they work.
I’m always interested to hear how things are being used, but it’s certainly not essential to let me know.
Weblog comments and contact responses
By commenting you give permission for publication on this site, while retaining the right to also use your own words however you see fit elsewhere.
By default all contact via the form, email or instant messaging is considered private (see Privacy) unless you specifically give permission for publication, in which case the approach used for weblog comments applies.
RSS/Atom feeds
The weblog content feeds offered are of course freely available for you to read via either software on your computer or a web-based service.
However, republication of the main content of weblog entries is forbidden except by general purpose aggregation tools. That means you can’t simply use weblog entries from here (whether obtained via feeds or pages), perhaps combined with other sources, to populate another site that’s openly available on the web. Displaying titles and the summaries contained in the feeds and linking through to full content on this site is OK for commercial and non-commercial uses.
Linking
Obviously you can freely link to any page you like, and quote appropriate chunks of content in doing so. However, it’s not polite to link directly to files such as images, scripts and style sheets, or display them embedded within another site. Links must not be presented in a way that misleads the user (e.g. by giving a false impression of the relationship between sites).
Permission
If you’d like to reproduce this site’s content or images just get in touch beforehand and ask; it’s absolutely fine in many circumstances, but you do need to check and get permission.
